Dallas Cowboys Make Big Jump in ESPN Power Rankings After Week 1

After signing Dak Prescott to the largest contract in league history, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. This victory helped the team rise up in the latest NFL power ranking by ESPN.

In their Week 1 matchup, the Cowboys delivered an impressive performance against Cleveland, earning a solid victory. Dallas showcased a balanced offense, with effective passing and a strong running game that kept the Browns’ defense on their toes. Prescott was particularly effective, demonstrating his ability to make quick decisions and accurate throws under pressure. The offensive line provided solid protection, allowing Prescott time to execute plays and maintain offensive momentum.

Defensively, the Cowboys were equally impressive, effectively limiting the Browns’ scoring opportunities. Their defensive line applied consistent pressure, resulting in critical stops that thwarted Cleveland’s drives. The secondary was sharp, ensuring that the Browns’ key receivers struggled to find open space.

In addition to the strong individual performances, the Cowboys displayed excellent teamwork and communication, which are vital for a successful season. The coaching staff’s game plan was well-executed, allowing the team to maintain control throughout the contest.

Thanks to their win against Cleveland, the Cowboys have risen up a few notches in ESPN’s latest NFL power ranking after Week. Todd Archer explained more in his analysis below.

“There were lots of choices thanks to Dallas’ big win, but Overshown gets the nod. He sat out his rookie season because of a torn ACL in his left knee but was all over the field against the Browns. He finished with nine tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits. His closing speed was eye-opening on his sack of Browns QB Deshaun Watson since he beat Micah Parsons to the signal-caller. There might be growing pains as the year progresses, but he is off to a great start,” Archer wrote.

In their Week 2 clash, the Cowboys host the New Orleans Saints at AT&T Stadium. Both teams impressed in their season openers. Key players include Prescott and CeeDee Lamb for Dallas, while Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara are predicted to lead the Saints.
