Even though the Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing finish last season and the franchise is always mired in various issues, there’s still a market for Dak Prescott when he hits free agency next year. As it stands, the quarterback is projected to land a big bag of money when that time comes.
Prescott’s anticipated contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys is currently stalled, primarily due to the team’s hesitance to commit to a long-term deal. While the Cowboys are prepared to offer the quarterback a lucrative annual salary that would rank him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL, questions remain about how many years they are willing to invest in him.
The Cowboys’ uncertainty is fueled by their ongoing Super Bowl drought, which has lasted 28 years. Despite Prescott’s impressive regular-season record of 73 wins against 41 losses, his playoff performance has raised concerns. He has only managed two wins in five postseason games, including a disappointing loss to the Packers last January.
The quarterback is reportedly seeking a multi-year commitment from the Cowboys, but management seems wary. According to reports, owner Jerry Jones desires not just regular-season success but also a return to the Super Bowl, which complicates Prescott’s negotiations.
Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Projected To Land $209 Million Deal in 2025 Free Agency
Whether he stays in Dallas or checks the market out in 2025, it’s a guarantee that Prescott will receive a big contract. According to an NFL analysis by Bleacher Report, the quarterback is projected to land a contract worth a little more than $209 million.
“Whether or not Prescott is actually deserving of a deal that surpasses those of Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Jordan Love ($55 million annually each), he’s probably going to get it. Prescott is a high-level quarterback in a league that doesn’t even have enough average ones, and multiple teams will be interested.
Spotrac puts Prescott’s projected market value at $55.1 million annually. However, the next-man-up nature of contracts and the supply-and-demand nature of free agency could have him earning much more than that with another strong season.
Projected Contract Value: Four Years, $209 Million
Despite the contract talks, Prescott is focusing on the upcoming season, emphasizing his leadership role and the team’s mission. As the situation evolves, he remains committed to making the most of his opportunity with the Cowboys.
It remains to be seen what Prescott’s situation will be when the current season ends next year. In any case, the quarterback will end up with a new and hefty deal, regardless of whether he stays in Dallas or not.
