Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s holdout and stalled contract negotiations have cast a pall over the team’s training camp, and public commentary from owner Jerry Jones has done little but pour kerosene on the situation.
“I don’t have any urgency to get it done,” Jones told reporters Thursday.
Jones’ comments did not appear to sit well with either Lamb or All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, who is also eligible for a long-term extension, on social media.
“I know y’all want to ask,” Parsons told reporters on Thursday. “I got urgency for it to happen.”
Dallas Cowboys’ Mike McCarthy Weighs in On CeeDee Lamb Holdout
One day later, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy took a different tact when it comes to his star receiver’s situation.
“We miss CeeDee,” McCarthy told reporters. “We love CeeDee, and he’ll be great when he gets here … He’s going to come in here ready to go.”

Lamb is in the midst of a holdout ahead of potentially playing out on the fifth-year option of his contract, set to collect $17.9 million.
The Cowboys have not shown much urgency to get a deal with Lamb in place, meanwhile, the wide receiver market exploded through the course of this offseason. Justin Jefferson reset the market with a four-year contract worth $140 million with the Minnesota Vikings after Amon-Ra St. Brown and A.J. Brown reached pacts with the Lions and Eagles, respectively, worth $120 million and $100 million earlier in the offseason.
Lamb has developed into one of the league’s most prolific receivers and a vital weapon in Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s arsenal, having caught 395 passes for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns through the first 32 seasons of his career.

The boy is already under contract whether he wants an extension or not. An he can still be tagged next year too. I hope they fine him to the max for not showing up for work like he’s supposed to. Dak doesn’t have a contract for next year at all and he’s got his butt at work.
The receivers on the last year of his contract he goes out and plays for you loser Cowboys then gets hurt it’s over for him.
Cowboys have turned into a joke.
