Last offseason, the Dallas Cowboys handed out two massive contract extensions to two of their superstar players. Quarterback Dak Prescott became the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history with his four-year $240 million contract extension. While other quarterbacks have signed for more money overall, no player has ever made $60 million a year on average like Prescott will.
Additionally, Dallas also gave a massive contract extension to CeeDee Lamb, who had been holding out for a new deal. His four-year $136 million contract, at the time, made him the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL behind only Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, who got a four-year $140 million extension.
Both Lamb and Jefferson have since been surpassed by Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals, who signed a monstrous four-year $161 million contract earlier this offseason.
But while the Cowboys were busy throwing money at Prescott and Lamb, many fans were wondering, “what about Micah Parsons?”
Dallas Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Is Due for a Massive Contract Extension Himself

Over the last four seasons, Parsons has been one of the best bargains in the NFL. This year, he is playing on the fifth-year option which Dallas picked up worth over $24 million. Prior to that, though, he was playing on his rookie contract, a four-year deal worth “only” $17 million.
In those four seasons, Parsons has amassed 52.5 sacks, has been named to the Pro Bowl four times, was named First Team All-Pro twice, won Defensive Rookie of the Year, and finished in the top three of Defensive Player of the Year voting three times.
The only season in which he did not finish top three was this past season in which he only played in 13 games due to injury. Still, he was able to rack up 12.0 sacks and 23 quarterback hits.
Dallas Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones Gives Update on Micah Parsons Contract Talks

Parsons is, obviously, the next Dallas star that is up for a contract extension, and based on his performance over the last four seasons, it should be one of the richest in the NFL. Per Spotrac, his market value is four years and $146.7 million, or $36.7 million a year.
And while he has stated his preference is to stay with Dallas, the Cowboys are taking their time on extending him. That being said, executive vice president Stephen Jones is happy with where they are.
Per Jon Machota of The Athletic, Jones said:
“We’ve had visits with Micah, Jerry and I have. We feel good about that.” Some guys want to visit. And some guys don’t want to visit about their money. We respect both ways. But if players want to come in and talk to us, we got an open-door policy, whether it’s Jerry or myself.
“Micah likes to visit, so that’s a good thing. We have a great working relationship with Micah. Think the world of him. We’ve had good visits with him. Feel good about where we’re headed.”
The question, though, is whether or not they will be able to come to an agreement before OTA’s and/or training camp. Furthermore, Parsons could holdout without a new deal in place like Lamb did last year.
