Dallas Cowboys: With the new season just days away, predictions have been popping out left and right. From this season’s biggest breakouts and busts, divisional winners, and of course, the Super Bowl champs.
We also can’t forget about the esteemed individual awards. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report takes a crack at this upcoming season’s best player honors based on DraftKings’ predictive odds. Cowboys fans will be glad to know that one of their stars has been predicted to win one major individual award in 2023.
Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons Has Best Odds for DPOY
There are a handful of bona fide stars on Dallas’ roster heading into the new season. However, there’s no denying that one particular superstar that stands out is Micah Parsons. The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to have his best year yet now that he’s entering his third season in the NFL. So much so, that he’s predicted to bag the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Gagnon also points out that reigning DPOY Nick Bosa as well as the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones are both in the midst of contract holdouts with their respective teams. Both stars could end up missing the start of the season, which will only further boost Parson’s campaign.
“Parsons was last year’s runner-up, but he’s on the rise and the two other players who received more than 10 percent of the vote share—Nick Bosa and Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones—are currently dealing with contract disputes,” Gagnon wrote.
Parsons was given +500 odds to win the DPOY title. Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns came in as a close second with +800, while Watt rounds out the Top 3 with +850 odds.
Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson Seen as Dark Horse for DPOY
One particular player that Gagnon has set his eyes on is incoming second-year edge Aidan Hutchinson of the Detroit Lions. The 23-year-old is currently considered the dark horse that could potentially steal the title away from Micah Parsons.
“He’s got all the tools coming off a stellar rookie season, and the Lions now have enough talent to support him. It’s entirely possible the 2022 No. 2 overall pick explodes in his second season,” Gagnon wrote.
Hutchinson has been given +2500 odds, so if you believe in Gagnon’s prediction here, now would be a good time to place a bet on the young Lions stud.
