The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott have yet to reach any type of deal, and Prescott is just one of numerous Cowboys stars who is not happy at all with the team.
Ceedee Lamb Is also not happy at all to have not yet been signed to a monster deal as he should. He has waited and watched many other receivers get generational wealth, after he was the best in the game last season. Now, the legendary running back Emmitt Smith is calling out the franchise for their chaotic state.
Emmitt Smith Thinks The Dallas Cowboys Are Fumbling The Bag
The legendary Dallas running back Emmitt Smith recently spoke with Cowboys reporter RJ Ochoa about the state of the organization, specifically as it pertains to Dak and CeeDee. He explained why the receiver is fundamental to Dak’s success and therefor the team’s success.
“Let’s make this very clear. He [Lamb] is a very, very valuable asset to the Dallas Cowboys. He is a very, very valuable asset to Dak Prescott,” Smith explained.
“Without him on the football field, they’re putting all of the pressure on Dak Prescott now. And that is unacceptable.”
Smith explained that as a top quarterback expected to compete for a championship, Lamb is the kind of receiver that Prescott needs to get there.
Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith on the state of CeeDee Lamb and his holdout with the team: “With CeeDee and the Dallas Cowboys today… let’s make this very clear. “Every quarterback of his caliber should have quality people to throw the ball to. Not no Plan B or no Plan C or no Plan D guy. He should be in a position, as your franchise quarterback, he should be in a position to be successful,” Smith asserted.
“And right now you putting him behind the eight ball. And that is not right. And that’s how I see it.”
Lamb is in the middle of a hold out from the team until he gets the deal that he feels he deserves, Lamb was the most productive receiver in the NFL this past season totaling catching a league-leading 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was on the first team All Pro team this past year and he is still just scratching the surface of what he can do in the NFL.
The Cowboys were embarrassed in their only playoff game this past season, and they swore to come back stronger. However, if they do not have their best players that will be impossible.
Dak Prescott Saga Doesn’t Look Like It Will End Well
As been discussed on Gridiron Heroics:
Prescott and the Cowboys have been negotiating a new deal for a while, but other quarterbacks around the NFL have agreed to substantial extensions with their teams that have driven up Dallas’ most important player’s asking price.
Jared Goff is getting paid $53 million a season, Trevor Lawrence $55 million, Tua Tagovailoa $53.1 million, and Jordan Love $55 million.
Prescott is expected to make more than all of these players, but it is not as easy as just handing him $56 million a season and calling it a day.
Dallas wants to give Prescott a long extension that would tie him to the franchise for the rest of his career. Prescott, on the other hand, wants a shorter-term deal so that he can get a bigger raise later on.
This situation is quite unbecoming of “America’s Team,” especially after the owner Jerry Jones said the team would be all in for this upcoming season. It appears that the team is actually going in the opposite direction.
