The Dallas Cowboys had one of the best regular-season defenses in the NFL last season, but they squandered it all in the postseason as they failed to stop the Green Bay Packers from doing whatever they wanted on the field.
While Mike McCarthy somehow managed to keep his neck and seat in Arlington, he knows better than anyone that Jerry Jones would not accept such a disappointing performance again. Due to this, he’s heavily investing on acquiring defensive talent to address this issue.

One of the avenues he’s turned to look for talent is the UFL. The team already signed Willie Harvey Jr. after an impressive stint in the UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks, but he may not be the only UFL standout they’re looking into.
The Dallas Cowboys look into bringing ex-Green Bay Packer Jonathan Garvin after a solid UFL campaign

Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk reported that the Cowboys are seriously considering giving Jonathan Garvin another shot in the NFL after making a serious impression during the recently concluded UFL season:
Garvin is working out for the Cowboys, his agents told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
In the UFL this season, Garvin was a contributor to a dominant Birmingham Stallions defense that shut out San Antonio in the UFL championship game.
Garvin had a great account for himself during the Stallions’ championship UFL season, recording 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Garvin, a seventh-round selection by the Packers in the 2020 Draft, didn’t get many opportunities to show his stuff on the turf. He only recorded 17 solo tackles and 1.5 sacks during his three-year run. When the Packers released him in 2023, he bided his time and waited for an opportunity to make it back into the league.

While nothing’s still assured yet, the fact that he managed to get an invite from the Cowboys is more than enough of an opportunity for him to show what he’s made of and convince the front office that adding him as a depth option is a wise choice.
