The Dallas Cowboys will be under pressure in 2024 to show the NFL that they can actually compete for a Super Bowl. Three straight seasons of winning 12 games has failed to result in even a conference championship appearance for Dallas. If that happens a fourth straight year, there could be major changes coming (for both players and coaches).
However, Jerry Jones will likely be apart of the Cowboys for the foreseeable future, and he is putting his stamp on this years’ 53-Man roster already.
Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Guarantees 1 Player Will Make The 53-Man Roster

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic:
Jerry Jones said he needs to see more from Trey Lance, but added that Lance will be on the Cowboys’ 53-man roster
Trey Lance has undergone some significant growth with the team after an up-and-down few months during which his accuracy has been questioned. Lance’s game has been called into question more than once:
“These are things we need to work on,” coach Mike McCarthy said of Lance’s accuracy following a recent preseason game. “Trying to get as much as I can with him. You want to see him running the offense at a high level. The footwork and some of the things we’re asking him to do conceptually are new.
“We just need work. We just need as much time as we can. I know I say that every time I talk about him, but he’s making good progress. He’s definitely wired the right way. He’s a great athlete. Just a lot of work to do.”
Jerry Jones confirming that Lance will be the backup to Dak Prescott may not be surprising, but certainly casts doubt as to how much control the head coach and general manager have on the team. Many criticized the owner for publicly naming personnel moves ahead of official cut downs.
