The Dallas Cowboys are starting to get a cursed reputation in the Dallas sports market. Now, even more eyes are on them because the Cowboys and WR CeeDee Lamb have not worked out a contract extension at this time.
This has now stretched to the Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp. Because of this, Lamb has sent a bold message to the Cowboys.
CeeDee Lamb Not Spotted at Dallas Cowboys’ Mandatory Minicamp

Today was the official beginning of the Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Lamb was not spotted at this morning’s minicamp. As a result, Lamb could face potential fines from the team due to the minicamp being mandatory for the Cowboys.
Looking at Other NFL Wide Receivers

A big reason this is happening is because several elite wide receivers have gotten contract extensions this offseason. One of the most notable examples is Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson. Yesterday, he became the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL annually.
Most people believed Jefferson’s extension would benefit Lamb greatly. That is because Lamb had a fantastic 2023 season and he is currently expected to receive just over half of the money that Jefferson will get.
The Cowboys picked up a fifth-year option for Lamb that is just under $18 million. To lean into this more, a previous report revealed that Jefferson’s contract extension is expected to “speed up” negotiations between the Cowboys and Lamb.
Dallas Cowboys and CeeDee Lamb Moving Forward

So, what will happen with the Cowboys and Lamb? It is likely the Cowboys will have to pay up.
Lamb could be looking at about $35 million annually just like Jefferson on his next contract. The Cowboys could potentially franchise tag Lamb in 2025. However, that could end up costing them even more money for that season.
The Cowboys have a difficult decision ahead of them. Lamb and QB Dak Prescott are both free agents after this upcoming season. If Dallas does retain both of them, they could be spending nearly $100 million annually just on these two players.
While someone is going to pay Lamb, the Cowboys do have another option. That option is to blow the whole thing up and start from scratch. With head coach Mike McCarthy also likely being on the hot seat, the 2024 season could be one of the most vital for the future of the Cowboys’ organization.
