According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is not expected to report to training camp amid contract negotiations.
Lamb, who is still on his rookie contract, would earn a salary of nearly $18 million in 2024 if he and the Cowboys failed to agree to terms on a new contract.
Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb would not be making what he’s worth in 2024 if he doesn’t get a new contract
While the nearly $18 million figure Lamb would receive if he doesn’t get a new contract isn’t a bottom-of-the-barrel number, it is far less than what Lamb has proven he is worth.
Lamb’s 135 receptions in 2023 led the league by a wide margin. Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill and Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown are trailing Lamb with just 119 receptions each.
Lamb’s 1,749 yards receiving was just 50 yards back from the NFL leader, which was Hill. Hill and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also beat Lamb for the No. 1 overall spot when it came to receiving touchdowns with 13 as Lamb only had 12.
These numbers show Lamb is easily a top-10 WR in the NFL, if not a top-5 WR in the NFL. Yet, if he were to play on his $18 million contract there would be 24 NFL WRs with a higher yearly salary than Lamb. Some of those receivers include:
- Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars, $18 million
- Diontae Johnson, Carolina Panthers, $18.35 million
- Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $20 million
- Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns, $20 million
- Keenan Allen, Chicago Bears, $20.03 million
- D.J. Moore, Chicago Bears, $20.63 million
- Calvin Ridley, Tennessee Titans, $23 million
- Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders, $23.2 million
- Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins, $28.25 million
- Nico Collins, Houston Texans, $24.25 million
- Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts, $23.3 million
Dallas Cowboys fans are upset at the organization’s inability to reach a deal with WR CeeDee Lamb
Lamb’s high-level play on the field has become one of the brightest spots on a Dallas Cowboys roster that continues to fail when it comes to making a deep playoff run.
As a result, many Cowboys fans think the organization should pay him as much as he wants to keep him in Dallas. A similar situation is forming on the other side of the ball as the Cowboys still have to pay standout pass rusher Micah Parsons.
In an article from the New York Post, Cornerback Jourdan Lewis said that the contract situation is just business.
“It’s a business, honestly,” Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis told the Morning News about the situation. “You got to look at from that side of things and understand it. You got to take care of your family that comes first. I understand what they’re doing. You just got to go out there and try to prepare as best we can without them or how long we’ll be without them.”
Some Dallas fans are upset with the Cowboys while fans from all over the NFL world are finding great joy in the organization’s perceived mishaps.

The first-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft will be 25 during the 2024 season. He has steadily improved every year he’s been in the league and will look to continue the trend as the Cowboys hope to buck the trend of losing early in the postseason.
