In 2024, the Dallas Cowboys will have the same expectation they’ve had since Mike McCarthy was hired as head coach: to win the Super Bowl.
However, in every season under McCarthy, Dallas has been beaten in the first or second round of the playoffs. A deep post-season run seems mandatory for McCarthy if he wants to keep his job.
Their post-season hopes could be enhanced by one free agent who has seemingly made his intentions known.
Free Agent Seems To Commit To The Dallas Cowboys For The 2024 Season
Dallas Cowboys aren’t satisfied with internal promotions after losing defensive end Sam Williams for the season. On Thursday, they worked out free agent pass rushers, including Carl Lawson.

As a fourth-round pick in 2017, Lawson played four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and then three seasons with the New York Jets. In 2022, the 29-year-old edge rusher started all 17 games and had seven sacks. He spent a majority of the 2023 season injured.

If the Cowboys added both Al-Quadin Muhammad and Carl Lawson, their pass rush would get a major boost. Unless Lawson is making jokes, that may become a reality in the very near future.
