The Dallas Cowboys could look to dramatically upgrade quarterback Dak Prescott’s supporting cast ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, and might not even need to wait for draft night to do it.
While running backs such as Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty or North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton, or even Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson could be ideal fits for the Cowboys, there might be a plug-and-play difference-maker to be had on the trade market.
As the New York Jets dangle running back Breece Hall in the trade market, the Cowboys could be a perfect fit.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay put together a list of four trade proposals that the Jets should try to snag in exchange for Hall, including the Cowboys sending New York a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
“The Dallas Cowboys cannot afford to enter another season without enough firepower in the backfield,” Kay writes for B/R. “They attempted to forego spending any significant money or draft picks on running backs last offseason and wound up averaging only 100.3 yards per game on the ground in 2024, which ranked 27th leaguewide.
“Fifth-year tailback Rico Dowdle was one of the lone bright spots in Dallas’ offense last year, but he left for the Carolina Panthers in free agency. That means the Cowboys will have to address their backfield deficiencies in the 2025 draft.”

Hall could instantly upgrade the Cowboys’ offense and add an element of explosiveness into a unit that sorely lacked it last season, even before Prescott was lost to a season-ending injury.
Through the first three seasons of his career, Hall has rushed for 2,333 yards with 14 touchdowns, despite largely playing in a backfield timeshare with the Jets.
In Dallas, Hall could emerge as a prolific weapon and fill a major need for the Cowboys.
