The Dallas Cowboys are now 2-0 in the NFC East after beating the Washington Commanders. Their win over the Giants solidifies them as second in the division behind the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys played well on offense led by Cooper Rush, now 4-0 as a starter and 3-1 on the season. Rush is the first quarterback in franchise history to accomplish the 4-0 record. The Dallas Cowboys are in a good position in their division, and the season is still young but a good start early is always appreciated by fans.
NFC East
The NFC East was expected to be one of, if not the worst division in the NFL. Currently the only undefeated team in the league is the Philadelphia Eagles at 4-0. The only losing record in the division is the Washington Commanders who fell to 1-3 after losing to the Cowboys. Another notable stat is the New York Giants’ only loss came from the Cowboys, a divisional opponent. At this point, while it is early in the season, the NFC East is the strongest division in the league.
Dallas’ Week 4 Victory
The Dallas Cowboys were able to advance to 3-1 without their starting quarterback Dak Prescott. The early season success is a great surprise for Cowboys fans. Micheal Gallup made his season debut this week. His work load was light but he was able to make two receptions, one of them for a touchdown. Ceedee Lamb looked great, finding holes in the defense and also scored a touchdown. The offense was not able to run the ball with much efficiency really at all. The team had a total of 62 rushing yards, and having running backs like Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard and being held to such a few rushing yards is not good. On a positive note, the defense played great with two interceptions and two sacks.
Penalties
The Cowboys played under control and a well disciplined game, while the Commanders did not. The game would have been much closer and possibly even a different outcome without all the flags. On two different occasions the Commanders had interceptions negated due to penalties. They had a total of eleven penalties for 136 yards. Including those numbers with the two takeaways they lost and they really lost to themselves.
2022 Season
The Dallas Cowboys have a tough road ahead of them, especially with the team awaiting the return of their starting quarterback. Cooper Rush has done a tremendous job, however I don’t think there is any question that Dak will return as the starter. Next week the Cowboys play the Rams in Los Angeles, the defending Superbowl champions, who have had an up and down season already.
