Per multiple reports, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has an issue with his right ankle. His ankle was the series of numerous headlines around the July 4th weekend when Prescott was spotted wearing a walking boot for a sprained foot.
Dak Prescott said “nothing” was wrong this summer
As previously discussed on GH, Prescott followed questions about the walking boot by saying “nothing” was wrong with his ankle, and he wouldn’t miss time at training camp for it:
“I’m great. Honestly, I’m getting older. It’s the same ankle that I snapped and had surgery on four years ago,” Prescott said. “So a couple of hard days of training, and you get a little sore, and then you go on a fishing trip, and you want to protect it and make sure things don’t get worse.
“Literally, it’s absolutely nothing. People are reaching, trying to make things that they aren’t. I’m getting older and having to take care of my body and be smart. If I have to take precautions and lessen something by putting on a boot, I’ll do it. Sorry that it caused such a whirlwind.”
Prescott didn’t practice Friday; likely won’t play on Sunday
Prescott didn’t miss the start of training camp for his ankle, but he did miss Friday’s practice because of it. According to Todd Archer with ESPN, Prescott missed practice on Friday due to soreness in his right ankle:
Prescott is being held out of practice Friday for precautionary reasons because of ankle soreness following the joint practice with the Rams on Thursday. Cowboys have a light workout today and he is likely to not play Sunday’s preseason game vs. Rams.
Per Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Cowboys are not worried about the injury, saying Prescott will “be fine.”
The Cowboys’ comment on Friday sounds like Prescott’s statement in July. However, something is off with the ankle.
Will the “precautionary” measures continue to surface all the way into the regular season for a problem Prescott doesn’t have?
