Dabo Swinney is one of the best coaches in college football at the moment, but even he can have some flaws, and one is not adjusting to the transfer portal that has reshaped college football.
Dabo Swinney Has Not Taken Any Players From The Portal This Season
The Clemson Tigers have yet to take a single player from this year’s transfer portal, and every major team in college football is constantly adding to their roster through the portal. Still, for some reason, Dabo Swinney and the Tigers want no part of it, and we found out why this week.
Transfer Portal Players Aren’t Good Enough For Clemson
Swinney was on College Sports On Sirius XM and explained why he doesn’t take players from the transfer portal. “I mean, it’s really pretty simple. Most of the guys in the portal aren’t good enough to play for us. That’s just the reality of it.”
Dabo Swinney believes most players in the Transfer Portal aren’t good enough for Clemson:

Swinney Is Out Of His Mind
Swinney might be a top-three coach in the sport, but thinking no player in the transfer portal is good enough for Clemson is just crazy. One of the best players in college football this season, safety Caleb Downs from Alabama, entered the portal and went to Ohio State, and you’re telling me you wouldn’t want him on your roster.
Dabo Swinney is just trying to protect himself because he knows landing zero transfers looks awful when all these big-time schools add significant players.
