Cowboys-Texans Trade Report Heats Up After CeeDee Lamb’s Massive Contract

The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans are going into the 2024 season looking to build off what they accomplished in 2023.  Dallas won 12 regular season games for the third consecutive season.  Houston made the playoffs with rookie CJ Stroud at the helm and are ecstatic about what the future looks like.

However, could these two Texas teams be in business before the season kicks off?

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz:

Sources: Multiple teams have reached out to the Texans to see if WR John Metchie III would be available in trade due to the plethora of receivers on their roster. It’s unclear if Houston would move him, but several team are keeping a close eye.

The former 2nd-round pick out of Alabama had 10 catches for 100 yards and a TD in the preseason.

The Cowboys have been named as a potential suitor for Metchie:

This trade rumor will only heat up after the Chiefs signed JuJu Smith-Schuster today.  Our very own Robin Adams initially covered the news:

On Monday morning, news broke that the Chiefs had decided to sign wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who played for them during the 2022 NFL season and won Super Bowl LVII with the team.

In his lone season with the Chiefs, Smith-Schuster had 78 receptions for 933 yards and three touchdowns. He had seven receptions for 53 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Smith-Schuster had been linked to the Cowboys for months.  Will the Cowboys pull the trigger on a wide receiver trade in an attempt to establish more depth beyond CeeDee Lamb?
