It’s not just Dallas Cowboys OC Kellen Moore who has been able to overcome the depth issues in Dallas. The (2-1) ‘Boys have shown the NFL world that in spite of their starting quarterback going down early, their backup has been able to come through for them.
Dak Prescott’s Injury

Late in the fourth quarter in week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Dak Prescott exited the game in pain, holding his sore throwing hand.
The Cowboys lost the game 19-3 and it was determined that the 29 -year-old signal caller would miss the next several weeks with a severe thumb injury.
That meant the silver and blue would turn to their backup quarterback from Central Michigan who won his first start last year on SNF against the Minnesota Vikings.
Enter Cooper Rush
With the main signal caller sidelined for a while resting his thumb, Cooper Rush would be filling in as the team’s starter until further notice. Also 29-years-old, Rush has been through the block and has been with the Cowboys organization two different times.
The Central Michigan alumn is an accurate passer and is calm in the pocket, but he lacks the dual-threat ability to run like Prescott can. Still, he knows his offensive coordinator’s scheme that gives them a better chance to win than (QB3) Will Grier.
Kellen Moore’s Coaching Style
Moore first joined the Cowboys’ organization in 2015 after playing behind offensive coordinator Scott Linehan for the Detroit Lions (2012-2013). The then 27-year-old was a backup quarterback for the Cowboys, who helped Prescott during his rookie year in 2016. An ankle injury kept the Boise State alum sidelined for all of 2016.
The Cowboys signal caller has a very unique coaching style as he has a mixture of tempo and ball-control. When the team has to go fast after a big pass play, or during a two minute-drill, you will see more snaps from the shotgun. If they need to play an Alabama Crimson Tide, grind- it-out to end a game, then you will see them slow it down under center with handoffs to Zeke. Or in other cases, (RB2).
With limited depth at the wide receiver position and their #1 tight end being side lined due to injuries, the 34-year old dialed up a running play up the middle for Guard Jason Peters to set up a block for his (TB2).

Let’s hope OC Kellen Moore can continue to help Rush evolve in the offense with his play calling to win the Cowboys more games, despite the depth issues. It will help the team, so that we don’t need to see Prescott come back until he is ready.
