Breaking: Cowboys Legend Who Stabbed Man In Neck With Scissors Exposed Again

The Dallas Cowboys may want to close their eyes when it comes to this report.  One of the greatest players who has ever put on an NFL jersey is seeing his past come back to bite him, again.  This time it is involving a stabbing that took place.

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin seems to be living life without trouble in his retirement days, but his past isn’t without controversy:

Irvin, while one of the greatest wideouts in NFL history, couldn’t have been described as squeaky clean during his playing days and could have easily landed himself in jail after stabbing a teammate in the neck with a pair of scissors.

This is pretty well documented, but it’s mostly forgotten, with many years having passed. Plus, the Cowboys seemed to try their best to cover it up.

The story resurfaced online this week after reporter Jeff Pearlman appeared on the ‘Going Deep With Chad and JT’ podcast. Pearlman had several wild stories, recalling incidents involving Barry Bonds and John Rocker.

But his bit on Irvin stabbing someone in 1998 was easily the most jarring.

“The Cowboys had an offensive lineman named Everett McIver,” he said. “He went to get his hair cut. Michael Irvin said, ‘Seniority.’ All the offensive linemen are like ‘F— that, don’t get up…’

“They start getting in a pushing match, and Michael Irvin grabs the barber’s scissors and stabs him in the neck and drags it along. Blood is spraying everywhere. It’s a crazy scene.”

While McIver survived the ordeal, Irvin could have still gone to jail for a number of offenses, including attempted murder. He was also on probation at the time.

According to Pearlman, the Cowboys covered it up by not reporting it and giving the victim some cash. Of course, the story got out and took on the name “Scissorgate,” but Michael still avoided prison.

“Michael Irvin at the time was on probation,” he added. “If that had gotten out, he’s going to jail. The Cowboys never reported it and gave Everett McIver a nice payout.”

So you see, things could have unfolded a lot differently for Irvin, but he ended up having a Hall of Fame career.

While the Cowboys were successful in keeping their star receiver out of jail, they didn’t experience much of it on the gridiron as they lost in the first round of the playoffs and haven’t been to an NFC Championship Game in 30 years, something Irvin himself has been highly critical of them for.
