It has been a tough start for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024. Currently, they sit in third place in the NFC East with a 3-3 record through six weeks. This comes after three consecutive seasons with at least 12 wins. The team has failed to even qualify for the NFC Championship Game, much less the Super Bowl, each one of those years in the playoffs.
Jerry Jones discussed the future of Mike McCarthy after the team started .500. Now Jones is talking about the possibility of a trade.
Cowboys Owner Makes Massive Trade Announcement Weeks Before Deadline (Report)
According to Alex Hoegler of Total Pro Sports:
Jerry Jones is facing plenty of calls from fans and pundits to make significant changes following a humiliating 47-9 home loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Jones told reporters that he wasn’t thinking about firing head coach Mike McCarthy, and he had already decided against acting at the trade deadline.
Per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Jones said the Cowboys wouldn’t be “active” at the Nov. 5 trade deadline. Jones added that coaching and coordinator changes aren’t being explored now.
So as always, Jerry Jones believes there is no need to change an obviously flawed roster. It’s not surprising considering that his idea of going “all-in” this offseason was to make zero big splashes while bidding farewell to several key starters from 2023.
“I hate, I detest, I despise someone that will prey on the weak…If the Cowboys don’t win another playoff game or another game as long as Jerry Jones is the owner, I’ll be the happiest man in the world.” Shannon Sharpe torched Jerry Jones for threatening Dallas radio host. pic.twitter.com/ueGFczSdgO
