The Dallas Cowboys are going through a tumultuous (to say the least) 2024 campaign. Their off-season was largely focused on signing Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Very few free agent signings were made by the team. Even less who have have a significant impact on this season.
However, Jerry Jones may have just lost the rest of his fan base after his most recent decision.
“Fans Are Ready To Walk Away” Cowboy’s Owner Jerry Jones Does The Unthinkable After 3-5 Start
WR Jonathan Mingo was acquired by the Cowboys via trade, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN.
According to Pelissero, Dallas is exchanging its 2025 fourth-round draft pick for Mingo and Carolina’s 2025 seventh round pick.
In his weekly radio interview, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones teased a trade for a receiver, saying it was for a player they liked prior to the draft.
Before the 2023 draft, the Dallas Cowboys hosted Mingo for a top-30 visit.
According to Darelle Lincoln of Total Pro Sports:
Social media is blasting the team over the move, not just because of Mingo’s stats but also because of what they gave up to get him instead of doing it for another player.
The Dallas Cowboys gave up more to get Jonathan Mingo than the Kansas City Chiefs did to get DeAndre Hopkins.
Deandre Hopkins went for a conditional fifth, and Jonathan Mingo went for a fourth…

AWFUL TRADE: The #Cowboys just traded a fourth round pick for Jonathon Mingo, who has 500 career receiving yards.
Future Hall of Fame wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the #Chiefs for a conditional fifth rounder.

This will shock no one but:
The Dallas Cowboys spent more to acquire Jonathan Mingo than they got in exchange for Amari Cooper.

This move is even more head-scratching because the Dallas Cowboys are expected to be without quarterback Dak Prescott, who suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the team’s third straight defeat.
