With a road win over Cleveland and a home loss to New Orleans, the Dallas Cowboys have split their first two games of the season. Despite being 1-1 and it is still early in the season, many Cowboys fans want changes after their embarrassing loss this week.
With a 44-19 win at AT&T Stadium, the Saints completely outplayed Dallas. In week three, that loss could mean a big change for multiple areas of their team, however, Jerry Jones doesn’t think one specific change will happen.
Cowboys: Jerry Jones’ Recent Comment Is Devastating For Dallas Football (Report)
Despite averaging less than four yards per carry in the first two weeks of the season, it does not sound like the Cowboys will look to shake up the makeup of their backfield for this week’s game against the Ravens:
Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle have carried the load at running back, but the Cowboys signed Dalvin Cook to their practice squad in August so they could turn in his direction in an effort to find a spark. Team owner Jerry Jones threw cold water on that idea during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, however.
Jones said he is “pleased” with how the backs have performed and that he doesn’t expect the team will call Cook’s number.
“I don’t see a change that could involve Cook this week,” Jones said, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Cook’s limited work with the Jets and Ravens in 2023 didn’t do much to suggest he’s the answer to all problems, but there’s not much reason to have him in the organization if you’re not going to see if he can be an answer to some of them.
The Dallas rushing attack, or lack thereof, has been a major concern through the first two weeks of the season of 2024. Deuce Vaughn has 15 yards on three carries, while Ezekiel Elliott has 16 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. Rico Dowdle has 55 yards on 15 carries.
It’s hindering Dallas’ offensive productivity, making them one-dimensional. None of the three players have shown enough to be considered starting material.
Why wouldn’t Dallas take a flier on Dalvin Cook to see if he could turn around the rushing attack?
