With the NFL appealing the Deshaun Watson ruling, it looks like Watson will probably be suspended for much longer than six games. So, the Browns could stick with Jacoby Brissett, or they could look for someone else if Watson is out for the year. Most people have brought up Jimmy Garoppolo, but some are looking at a Colin Kaepernick return.
The biggest worry that the Browns should have is the controversy around him, but the Browns have proven that they don’t care about controversy when they traded for Deshaun Watson.
If the Browns do decide to go for him, it would be Kaepernick’s first NFL appearance since 2016 after he kneeled for the national anthem.
Browns’ coach Kevin Stefanski was asked if they were looking at Kaepernick as a possible QB for next season, and all he said was this:
“I am not going to have those type of discussions on who we have looked at and have not. I will kind of leave that internal.”
I asked Kevin Stefanski if Colin Kaepernick is on the Browns' ready list if they need another QB:
He said, 'I am not going to have those type of discussions on who we have looked at and have not. I will kind of leave that internal.'

Was Colin Kaepernick Actually Good?
Colin Kaepernick wasn’t an awful quarterback when he was with the 49ers, but he was not great. His biggest problem when he was in the league was his accuracy. It was even worse in 2015 and 2016. In those two years, he had a 59.1 completion percentage. And then he also had an off-target percentage of 22.6%.
But the best aspect of his game is his running ability. In his two worst years, Kaepernick still had the fourth most rushing yards among quarterbacks.
If the Browns were to sign him, his running game would probably be a big reason why.
Should the Browns Sign Him?
The Browns should probably pass on him. He could probably produce to some degree, but there will be so much controversy. The last thing the Browns need is more controversy after everything that has happened with Deshaun Watson.
