Ohio State and Michigan can’t stand each other most of the time, but when they need each other, they become best friends, which is exactly what happened in the fall of 2021.
During the 2021 football season, Michigan lost to Michigan State, which was its only Big Ten loss, and Ohio State needed to beat the Spartans to avoid a three-way tie.
Ohio State would go on to beat Michigan State, setting up a winner-take-all game between the Buckeyes and Wolverines. The winner would claim the Big Ten East and head to the conference title game.
Connor Stalions Helped Out Ohio State
Michigan ended up beating Ohio State, getting them to the conference title, and Connor Stalions, the former Wolverines staffer who was in charge of the sign-stealing scandal, admitted to giving Ohio State Michigan State’s signals so they could win the game and not set up a three way tie in the conference.
Stalions was on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast and stated before Ohio State played Michigan State, he gave the Spartans signals to a buddy of his and changed all the logos, making it seem like they didn’t come from Michigan so he could give them to the Buckeyes.

Stalions has no idea if Ohio State ended up using the signals he sent them or not, and now there is a chance Ohio State and Michigan cheated.
There would be no issue with teams trading opposing teams’ signs with one another if they got them legally, like picking them up during games without using any devices or on television broadcasts. Still, Stalions started a sign-stealing operation while at Michigan, getting opposing teams’ signs the illegal way.
Who knows what is even real with the story and what has been blown out of reality? Sign trading does happen among college football coaches, so there is a chance that Stalions crossed paths with someone who helped give the signs to the Buckeyes.
