The Washington Commanders aren’t just a team on the rise, but potentially a Super Bowl contender, fresh off a berth in the NFC Championship Game.
As General Manager Adam Peters and the Commanders look to continue building around wunderkind quarterback, and reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of The year, Jayden Daniels, Washington has the resources to be among the biggest players in free agency.
Washington is projected to open the offseason with $79.5 million in cap space, ahead of Daniels’ second season on his rookie contract, which is a wide-open window for Peters and the front office to be big spenders in hopes of closing the gap on the Philadelphia Eagles and building a sustained Super Bowl threat.
Could the Washington Commanders Sign Tee Higgins?

A first order of business for the Commanders could be adding a dynamic playmaker at receiver opposite Terry McLaurin.
While Dyami Brown emerged over the second half of the season as a solid complementary weapon, Peters and the Commanders have the resources to take a big swing in free agency.
Pro Football Focus put together a list of dream free agent signings, including the Commanders adding Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowler Tee Higgins.
“Finding more weapons for the Offensive Rookie of the Year would be a good use of their ample resources,” Mason Cameron writes for PFF. “But grabbing the No. 1 free agent this cycle would, without a doubt, put the rest of the NFL on notice. Tee Higgins has maintained a stellar level of production worthy of WR1 money, and he proved that this past season while playing on the franchise tag by earning the highest PFF receiving grade (88.3) of his career.
“Pairing Higgins with Terry McLaurin, who is also coming off a career year in 2024, would instantly create one of the most lethal receiving tandems in the NFL.”

Higgins, fresh off a 73-catch for 911 yards and 10 touchdown-season, would add a big-play element opposite McLaurin, while being the kind of reliable target Daniels may need in order to take the next step in his development.
As Pro Football Focus points out, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow posted a prolific 125.1 passer rating when targeting Higgins, who dropped only two passes, last season.
It remains to be seen if the Bengals will be able to re-sign Higgins, but, if he shakes loose onto the open market, the Commanders would be a fascinating fit.
