This Thursday night fans will get a chance to see a primetime NFC East showdown for first place in the division. The Washington Commanders prepare to take on the Philadelphia Eagles for what could be one of the best games of the week. This is the first of two meetings between these teams and should give us an idea of who the favorite should be to win this division.
The game this Thursday night will be held in Philadelphia, expect the Eagles fans to be rowdy and filled with energy. The Eagles are currently a home favorite, but this game can truly go either way. The Commanders have proven they can play with just about anyone and at the least keep it a close game.
The Commanders Take Aim for First Place

Nobody expected the Commanders to be in this position this season. All the off-season talk was whether it would come down between the Eagles and Cowboys for the NFC East. Many slated Washington to be a five-to-six-win team at best, due to them being in the midst of a rebuild. Yet here the Commanders are battling it out for first place in primetime.
The Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has played a large role in the Commanders early success. Daniels was the second overall selection in last year’s NFL Draft, he is a former Heisman winner out of LSU. Daniels gained a lot of experience in college playing for both Arizona State and LSU and was greatly developed under Head Coach Brian Kelly.
Since college, Daniels has led the Commanders to their best start in recent memory. The Commanders have proven to be one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL this season, led by running backs Brian Robinson Jr and Austin Ekeler. Though, Daniels has added to that attack with his legs as well. Many touted Daniels as nothing but the next running quarterback, but he has proven over the course of the season to be incredibly accurate with the ball.
Last week was the probably the toughest test for Daniels going against the Steelers stingy defense. With the Eagles defense playing better, this could be just as big of a test. A new face could help the Commanders contain AJ Brown or Devonta Smith. Former New Orleans Saints Pro-Bowler, Marshon Lattimore appears ready to make his debut with the Commanders and the team is excited to plug him into their defense that is already playing above expectations.
Eagles Try to Keep Control of the East

The Philadelphia Eagles have been a contender and one of the teams to beat in the NFC. This Thursday they will aim to defend their status against the Commanders. Running back Saquon Barkley has enjoyed a career year and taken a lot of pressure off quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles’ defense has come alive in recent weeks, just this last week they held the Cowboys combination of Cooper Rush and Trey Lance under 100 yards passing in total. This could prove to be one of the harder challenges for the Eagles defense to date, trying to contain the rookie sensation in Daniels is no easy task.
This will be the first of likely many head-to-head matchups between Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts. Thursday night could be birth of the new rivalry of the NFC East. This game could be one that either legitimizes the Eagles as a Super Bowl contender or could bring the collapse of the team. Last season, it was about this time the Eagles completely fell apart and went on a losing streak that ultimately led to them being dominated in the Wild Card round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
