Jonathan Taylor was hands down the best running back in the league last season. There was a lot of talk that he got snubbed for MVP or at least Offensive Player of the Year as he put up video game numbers. However, it seems that he has regressed to start the 2022 campaign.
Taylor for MVP?
The running back was electrifying week in and week out last season. He led the league in rush attempts (332), rushing yards (1,811), rushing touchdowns (18), longest run (83 yards), rushing yards/game (106.5), and 40+ yard runs (5). The running back who tallied the second highest rushing yards was Browns’, Nick Chubb, with 1,259 yards.
Even after a stellar season, Taylor didn’t even receive any votes for MVP. Although, he did get voted into the Pro-Bowl and receive First-Team AP All-Pro honors.
Taylor’s Sluggish Start to 2022
After a breakout season, Taylor has seemed to regress to start this new season through four weeks. He has tallied only 328 rushing yards, a single rushing touchdown, and 82 rushing yards/game. Along with that, Taylor has not had a single run of more than 10 yards.
Will an Injury Knock Him Back Even More?
In the Colts week four loss to the Titans, Taylor was sidelined with what appeared to be a high ankle sprain.
Yesterday reports were Jonathan Taylor may have a high ankle. I tweeted (what I thought) was a high ankle.
I was wrong.
Looking at the right ankle, this is a clear “low” sprain. Matches Rapsheet’s report this AM. Can’t see the left but things are looking up pic.twitter.com/i9pt637y2U

Luckily, the reports on the injury came back negative and there is a chance he will play in their week five matchup in Denver. However, the matchup will take place on Thursday night, leaving Taylor less time to fully recover.
