The New York Jets have a 1-7 record this season in the NFL and they are no doubt major sellers at the NFL trade deadline this season. The Jets may have just shocked the NFL world on Tuesday with its most recent trade.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, New York is trading superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for two first round picks (2026 and 2027) and also wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. This is a huge blockbuster trade for both teams. Indianapolis has a 7-2 record this season and are currently the number one seed in the AFC. The Colts are going for it all this season with this trade. With that being said, how could the Jets seriously trade its cornerstone defensive player on the roster?

The fact that Gardner gets to go from the Jets to the Colts has to be an amazing feeling for him. In seven games this season for New York, he has recorded 20 tackles and has six pass deflections as well this season.
Indianapolis may have overpaid for him, but New York is the same old Jets. Who knows if they are going to hit on those first-round picks anyways. The Colts are going to have Gardner for the next several years and this is a big deal. Some Jets fans don’t like they traded away Gardner to another serious contender. He is only 25 years old as well.
