Shedeur Sanders Snubbed From AP Preseason All-America Team
The Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders was snubbed from the 2024 AP preseason All-America list.
The Associated Press did not name the Colorado Buffaloes’ quarterback a preseason All-American. The committee instead chose Georgia quarterback Carson Beck as the First-Team rep and Oregon quarterback Dylan Gabriel as the Second-Team signal caller. All-American, two-way star, Travis Hunter was named to be the first team as an all-purpose player.
Sanders, entering his second season as the Buffaloes’ quarterback, had very good statistics considering the not-very-good offensive line Colorado had last season. Sanders threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions in 11 games.
This did not translate into much team success as Colorado went 4-8, and could have been a factor in the decision of choosing Beck and Gabriel, as they led their respective teams to New Year’s Six bowl games last season. Beck threw for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 2023. Gabriel threw for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 2023.
Shedeur Sanders
Colorado fans should not fret. It could be advantageous that the committee did not name him the AP All-American because this makes Sanders’ storyline that much sweeter. We need these guys to have a chip on their shoulders to really get out there and win a lot of football games.
Shedeur Sanders has an argument to be the best quarterback in the nation and Colorado fans should be excited the committee is overlooking Sanders and this football team because it just makes a potential championship run that much sweeter.
Colorado’s 2024 season of Expectation
Led by defensive lineman coach Warren Sapp, the Colorado defense is going to be better than last year. Coach Sapp has these young players excited about getting after the quarterback. The Buffs struggled late last season with being able to stop the run, the slant route, and the crossing routes. If Colorado can stop the opposing team’s offense, they will find themselves winning a lot of football games. It will be a challenge for any offensive coordinator to this season stopping the Buffs’ high-powered offense this season.
This season’s schedule is not as strong as it was last season. This schedule for the Big 12 is not as strong as the Pac-12. If the Buffs struggle during the regular season they will not get into the college football playoffs, or a national championship this season.
Colorado’s Warren Sapp VIRAL Promise Ahead Of 2024 Season
Coach Sapp spoke about this upcoming season. Sapp expressed how much this experience means to him. Going as far as saying his new role has given him a new purpose in life. Profound for a guy who has already accomplished so much.
“They don’t like to communicate,” coach Sapp responded to the media in camp when asked about the biggest thing he has learned in a game that has changed. A defense that communicates is a defense that wins a lot of football games.
Iron sharpens iron. What these players do in practice is going to translate to the game. It’s very simple, it’s just like life. The defensive line has been putting in a lot of hard work. Coach Sapp emphasized feeling good about this season and having high expectations.
Last season was about a sense of hope, this season is about expectations. So we’ll just have to wait and see.
