Deion Sanders’ Colorado struggled in the 2025 season and dropped to 3-9. He struggled in his first year with the Buffaloes without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
Coach Prime developed Shedeur from Rec ball, to high school, to college, and to the NFL as a father and coach, which is why Colorado offensive coordinator Brennan Marion has huge respect for him.
“I don’t know what community that most people are from that hate on Coach Brown,” Marion said. “But in our community, to even have a dad who’s present, and then we’ll bring you up all the way from, literally, middle high school, take you to a HBCU.
“So you can know what’s going on, then take you to the highest level and get you to the National Football League, and take you all the way up through them stages. To me, that is worth more than gold, and more than what he accomplished as a player, just the humility.”

Coach Prime remains a vocal and public supporter of Shedeur as he enters his second NFL season with the Cleveland Browns in 2026. Ahead of the upcoming season, his primary advice to Shedeur has been to “Work. Work.”
Deion Sanders’ Colorado Endgame Got Revealed
Despite some rumors linking him to teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Sanders said his commitment to Colorado. He said that building something on his own terms in college has more value than any NFL offer.
College football analyst RJ Young believes Sanders remains committed to Colorado.
“The man has had his health scares,” Young said. “You know what I’m saying? From the amputation to the cancer… And then you compound that with his kid being ridiculed not just by other media members, but by people that claim to know something about the NFL. Even having a kid that got his daddy’s iPad to go prank call the boy.”
“I could see why I probably wouldn’t want anything to do with that. I also think that he really, really wants to make the College Football Playoff Colorado if it’s the last thing he does.”
During an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” on Feb. 6, Sanders cited his son Shedeur’s recent experiences in the NFL as the primary reason for his decision to not to head to the NFL.
