Colorado football gained new life by hiring head coach Deion Sanders in 2023. Following a one-win season the year prior, Sanders led the Colorado Buffaloes to a 4-8 season last year and has the team sitting pretty at 5-2 entering this weekend’s tilt against Cincinnati. Sanders, a former All-World NFL corner and MLB outfielder, has had a transcendent impact on football in Boulder, Colorado, infusing the program with elite transfer portal players like two-way superstar Travis Hunter and his son, QB Shedeur Sanders. Meanwhile, the Buffaloes home games have become a hub for some of the nation’s top athletes and entertainers on game night. Colorado will welcome six highly-touted high school athletes this Saturday, headlined by a five-star QB.
Alongside five-star kicker Rhett Armstrong, Buffs commit Alex Graham, and four-star wideout prospect Adrian Wilson, Colorado will host elite quarterback recruit and USC Trojans commit Julian Lewis for a visit this weekend. Lewis verbally committed to USC over a year ago as a sophomore at Carrollton High School in Georgia.
Colorado Football Hosting Superstar Quarterback Prospect
According to On3 Recruiting and Rival recruiting director Adam Gorney:
NEWS – USC QB commit Julian Lewis will visit Colorado for its game against Cincinnati on Saturday.
Don’t look now, but the Colorado football program, led by polarizing head coach Deion Sanders, remains in the mix for five-star quarterback prospect Julian Lewis. The fourth-ranked passer in the 247Sports Composite ratings for the 2025 class, Lewis holds offers from multiple high-end programs, including the Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, and Alabama Crimson Tide. However, Lewis committed to Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans in August 2023.
Lewis would be a massive get for Colorado football, with current star quarterback Shedeur Sanders projected as an early first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Sanders enters this weekend leading the Big 12 in passing yards, touchdowns, and rating. As for Lewis, he tossed 48 touchdowns against two picks as a sophomore last year. He won MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year for his performance.
