Colorado football controls its own destiny for the College Football Playoff. On Saturday, the Colorado Buffaloes marched into Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas, and downed the Texas Tech Red Raiders 41-27. Meanwhile, fellow ranked Big 12 squad, the Iowa State Cyclones, took a shocking road loss against the Kansas Jayhawks, marking their second conference loss, one more than Colorado. Riding a three-game winning streak, the Buffaloes could win out and make the Big 12 title game, a massive feat given that the conference winner earns a bid to the CFP.
Projected to finish near the bottom of the Big 12 this season, head coach Deion Sanders has Colorado football at 7-2 following a disappointing 4-8 season. Two years before, Colorado went 1-11 before signing Sanders as their next bench boss. With many pundits and fans doubting Sanders’ ability following a 4-8 campaign, many of the Buffaloes faithful are taking a victory lap following Saturday’s win.
Colorado Football Fans Take Aim at Haters

According to Emmanuel Acho of Fox Sports:
BREAKING: I can’t believe I’m even typing this— Deion Sanders and Colorado officially control their own path to the College Football Playoff! Colorado Fans & Deion Sanders Fans must watch & retweet for the haters!
Winners of five of their last six, Colorado football, visited the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday as a short 4.5-point favorite. Texas Tech skunked Colorado in the first quarter, jumping out to a 13-0. However, Buffaloes Heisman Trophy Award caliber quarterback Shedeur Sanders responded with a 23-yard touchdown pass to standout wideout LaJohntay Wester. An Alejandro Mata’s field goal cut the halftime lead to 13-10 in favor of the Red Raiders. The second half was essentially all Colorado football, with the former Pac-12 team outscoring TTU 31-14.
With a chance to tie or take the lead late in the game, Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton fumbled, with safety Shilo Sanders, the son of head coach Deion Sanders, returning it for a touchdown. The 41-27 win moves Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders to 7-2 on the season. They can secure double-digit wins for the first time since 2016.
More importantly, they control their destiny, with an opportunity to make the Big 12 title game and, thus, the College Football Playoff. The lone team with one loss in the conference, Colorado, would play the BYU Cougars in the conference championship if the season ended today. With Colorado receiving much criticism this offseason, their fans put the hate on blast via social media following Saturday’s massive victory:
