Colorado football is three wins away from an unfathomable College Football Playoff berth. Two years after going 1-11, the Colorado Buffaloes are 8-2 following their blowout win against the Utah Utes on Saturday. Colorado laid the groundwork last season, hiring head coach Deion Sanders. An NFL Hall of Famer, Sanders overhauled the program, highlighted by the arrival of his son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way megastar Travis Hunter. The younger Sanders and Hunter have earned Heisman Trophy consideration amid their fantastic season.
However, it is Hunter who sits as the favorite to win the prestigious award in multiple sportsbooks. In their matchup against Utah, Hunter further entrenched himself as the Heisman Trophy favorite with another elite performance against a conference foe.

Travis Hunter has a touchdown and interception today. Hit the pose.
In a must-win situation regarding Colorado football’s chances to play in the College Football Playoff, superstar Travis Hunter continued to shine on offense and defense. Offensively, he had just five catches for 55 yards, but his longest catch came on a 4th-and-8 late in the second quarter. With Hunter streaking across the middle, quarterback Shedeur Sanders lobbed a ball to the playmaker in triple coverage, with Hunter going airborne to make the catch. Colorado would score the next play, pushing their lead to 21-9 at halftime. He capped off his offensive performance with a five-yard rushing touchdown in the final minutes of regulation, using his speed to turn a negative play into a score.
Defensively, Hunter had an interception late in the first quarter. He now has three interceptions on the season while approaching double-digit passes defended. Per PFF, the two-way star is also one of the best corners in the FBS regarding efficiency. Twice on Saturday, Hunter hit the Heisman pose, once in the endzone and another time after he intercepted Utah’s Isaac Wilson. Barring a meltdown, Hunter will hoist the Heisman Trophy Award this upcoming January.
