Last weekend, the Nebraska Cornhuskers blew the doors off the Colorado football team 28-10. The final score doesn’t indicate how much Nebraska outplayed their Big 12 foe, with Colorado allowing six sacks, losing the turnover battle, and mustering only a ludicrous 16 rushing yards. Safety Shilo Sanders, the son of head coach Deion Sanders and the brother of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, suffered an arm injury in the loss. He underwent surgery following the defeat.
On Tuesday, reports surfaced that the younger Sanders will miss two to three weeks while rehabbing. The 1-1 Colorado Buffaloes will visit rival Colorado State this Saturday before hosting the Baylor Bears. The defensive back could also be in danger of missing the team’s road matchup against the UCF Knights to conclude September.
Colorado Football DB Shilo Sanders Unavailable For 2-to-3 Weeks
According to On3 Sports:
NEWS: Colorado DB Shilo Sanders is expected to miss 2-3 weeks after undergoing arm surgery. Deion Sanders noted his son is a very fast healer. (h/t @ESPNRittenberg)
In a play early in the first quarter, Nebraska Cornhuskers running back Dante Dowdell received an inside rush attempt, barreling downhill untouched before trying to run over Colorado football star safety Shilo Sanders in the open field. Sanders made the tackle but suffered a broken arm in the process. Dowdell scored on a 12-yard rush in the ensuing play. Shilo Sanders left the game after recording two tackles and will sit on the shelf for at least the next two games.
In Sanders ‘ absence, sophomore Carter Stoutmire will likely earn a significant snap share. He recorded four tackles in Saturday’s loss against Nebraska. The Colorado football defense largely struggled in the loss, surrendering 149 rushing yards while failing to record a sack or turnover. Colorado also accounted for nine penalties for 104 yards.
