The Colorado football program will head into next weekend’s Big 12 opener 2-1 following a bounceback 28-9 win over the Colorado State Rams on Saturday. Known as the Rocky Mountain Showdown, the interstate matchup has become one of college football’s most talked about rivalries since the Colorado Buffaloes hired NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders as the program’s head coach before the 2022 season. After a thrilling 43-35 double-overtime win in last year’s matchup, plenty of trash talk from both sides led to this year’s rendition of the highly anticipated tilt.
However, Colorado stomped out their Mountain West foe, much to the pleasure of the Buffs’ faithful and quarterback Shedeur Sanders. A perennial first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders did not hide his disdain for his counterpart, CSU signal-caller Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, who called out Colorado football in a pregame interview. Nevertheless, college football fans did not appreciate the attitude displayed by Sanders, especially since he remains a top-end FBS gunslinger.
Colorado Football QB Shedeur Sanders Angers Fans with Postgame Antics
According to NFL Rookie Watch:
Shedeur Sanders REFUSED to shake the opposing team’s QB’s hands after beating them last night. Sanders reportedly then told the opposing QB that he “cannot” f*ck with him.
In a pregame interview, Colorado State Rams quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi spoke on last year’s matchup that ended in a double-overtime thriller. “They came out with that attitude and thought it was going to be a cakewalk,” said Fowler. He continued, saying, “They saw the reports, 27.5 points (Vegas spread), or whatever it was, and they got a rude awakening real quick. And I think it goes to show that the hype, the media train, all that, it only gets you so far.”
Colorado football passer Shedeur Sanders took exception to Fowler-Nicolosi’s remarks, playing an incredibly efficient football game. He finished the night 36-of-49 for 310 yards and four touchdowns. He did not throw an interception. Sanders exchanged words with Fowler Nicolosi in the postgame, most notably refusing to shake his hand. College football fans did not approve of his actions, regardless of Fowler-Nicolosi’s pregame statements, putting Shedeur Sanders on blast via social media:
Opposing players making comments about their opponents in the media is so old.
Anyone here of Ali?? The guy who talked so much junk before fights. Yet, he was humble enough to be gracious.
Yet that cry baby Sanders is learning from crying baby pops.

Loves talking when he’s winning, hides in the locker room when they’re losing. This guy sucks

No one is asking them to be buddy buddy. Just show some class and sportsmanship.

Shedeur is so amazingly insecure
— Cujo Knows (@cujoknows) September 15, 2024
If CU wins games he will be the first player at mid field… if they are losing games he will be the first in the locker room before the game ends. At least he is consistent
