Colorado football’s Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp, Lott, Chuck Bednarik, and Fred Biletnikoff Awards. On Monday, Hunter continued to stack accolades, earning first-team All-American honors as an all-purpose player and defensive back. He also earned second-team All-American recognition as a wide receiver. His teammate, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, also made the second-team All-American list. However, one Colorado football personality did not appreciate the younger Sanders not being named a first-teamer.
Following the release of the AP All-American teams, Deion Sanders Jr., the brother of gunslinger Shedeur Sanders, posted on his Twitter account, claiming the Colorado passer was “blackballed.” With Sanders placing behind Miami Hurricanes superstar Cam Ward regarding All-American honors, college football fans clowned Sanders Jr. via social media.
Colorado Football’s Deion Sanders Jr. Bashed By Fans
According to Deion Sanders Jr. on Twitter:
Shedeur the First college football player to be blackballed.
Following the reveal of the AP All-American teams on Monday, Colorado football personality Deion Sanders Jr. shared his frustration with his brother and team quarterback Shedeur Sanders, being named a second-team All-American. Sanders, a second-year starter for the Colorado Buffaloes, threw for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, and eight picks. He housed a 74% completion percentage and a 168.8 rating. However, Miami Hurricanes star gunslinger Cam Ward earned first-team All-American honors, throwing for 4,123 yards, 26 touchdowns, and seven picks. He completed 67% of his passes while posting a 171.4 rating.
Although Ward outpaced Sanders in production and team success, Deion Sanders Jr. did not hide his frustration with the AP voting. With Sanders falling short of Ward in passing yards, touchdowns, interception rate, and rating, college football fans criticized Sanders Jr. for his now-viral Tweet:
