Colorado football has housed one of the best quarterbacks in the country across the past two seasons. Since arriving in Boulder, Colorado, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of head coach Deion Sanders, has thrown for 7,156 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 11 picks. He owns the all-time record with a 71.8% completion percentage, finished eight in the 2024 Heisman Trophy Award voting, and helped lead the Colorado Buffaloes to a 9-3 record this season, two years removed from a one-win campaign. However, Sanders will leave Colorado this offseason for the subsequent NFL Draft.
Last month, Colorado football began to lay their succession plan for their time after Sanders, signing five-star mega prospect and signal-caller JuJu Lewis away from the USC Trojans. On Wednesday, they again added a highly sought-after quarterback, signing Liberty Flames star passer Kaidon Salter through the transfer portal. Nevertheless, some fans questioned the move by Colorado, potentially blocking Lewis from early playing time, a move that could end in him transferring from the now-Big 12 team.
Colorado Football Questioned By Fans For QB Addition
According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports:
Former Liberty star QB Kaidon Salter is set to transfer to Colorado, his agent @lawyerboycle tells @CBSSports/@247Sports.
In Salter, Deion Sanders adds a QB with career totals of 5,887 passing yards, 2,013 rushing yards, and 77 total touchdowns.
On Wednesday, the Colorado football team added Liberty Flames star quarterback Kaidon Salter via the transfer portal. A four-star recruit in the 2021 class, Salter originally signed with the Tennessee Volunteers before an arrest led to him transferring to Liberty in his first season. Salter became the team’s full-time starter in 2023, tallying 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also ran for 1,089 yards and 12 scores, leading Liberty to a Fiesta Bowl berth against the Oregon Ducks. This season, he took a step backward regarding production, accumulating 1,886 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and six picks.
Following 35 appearances in four years with Liberty, Kaidon Salter will play for Colorado football next season. Salter’s addition comes shortly after the team added five-star blue-chip prospect JuJu Lewis to the incoming recruiting class. Lewis, a five-star recruit, is the sixth-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class. With Lewis likely to take a backseat to Salter, many college football have questioned the team’s offensive game plan in the future.

Not a smart decision young man. Prime does NOT care about anyone besides himself, his boys, and Travis Hunter.
