‘Media Narratives Win Again’: Colorado Football Elite WR/CB Travis Hunter Besieged By Fans After Winning 2024 AP POTY Honors

Colorado football is amid one of their best seasons in franchise history. The Colorado Buffaloes finished the season 9-3, their best record since 2016, and are a win in the Alamo Bowl away from just their ninth double-digit winning season since 1902. The trio of head coach Deion Sanders, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and two-way star Travis Hunter lead Colorado for a second straight year. However, Hunter has earned the most recognition for his elite production level as a wide receiver and cornerback.

On Thursday, Hunter stole the College Football Award Show, winning the Walter Camp, Lott, Chuck Bednarik, Fred Biletnikoff, and Paul Hornung Award. Unrelated to the sport’s second most prestigious award ceremony behind the Heisman Trophy, Hunter also earned AP College Football Player of the Year honors. On the heels of Hunter cleaning up regarding college football awards, fans bashed the media for overlooking others in favor of the Colorado superstar.

CFB’s best defensive player AND wide receiver.

On Thursday, Colorado football superstar Travis Hunter won the Fred Biletnikoff and Chuck Bednarik Awards, recognitions for the nation’s best wide receiver and defender. Hunter also won the AP College Player of the Year Award, among other recognitions. This season, while playing nearly every offensive and defensive snap for the Colorado Buffaloes, Hunter accumulated 92 receptions, 1,152 receiving yards, 15 total touchdowns, 32 tackles, 11 passes defended, and four interceptions.

However, fans took exception to Hunter winning numerous awards, most notably the Billetnikoff. Hunter finished fifth in receptions and sixth in receiving yards. Meanwhile, San Jose State Spartans star wideout Nick Nash tallied an FBS-high 104 receptions, 1,382 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Nevertheless, fans flooded social media in disgust over the media showering Hunter with hardware:
