Colorado football had a program-defining season in 2024. The Colorado Buffaloes went 9-3, housed Heisman Trophy Award winner Travis Hunter, and finished ranked in the final regular season College Football Playoff poll. However, Colorado will have a new look roster in 2025, with quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of head coach Deion Sanders, and Hunter destined for the subsequent NFL Daft. On Monday, the top end of their roster took another hit, with a star defender darting for the transfer portal.
Following one season with Colorado football, linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green will depart the program for the transfer portal. Hill-Green finished tied with the team lead in TFLs with 12. Nevertheless, the Colorado faithful sit confused following Hill-Green’s decision to transfer following his success and that of the teams.
Colorado Football Fans Question Nikhai Hill-Green Transfer
According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports:
Colorado All-Big 12 linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green is expected to enter the transfer portal, a source tells @CBSSports/@247Sports.
Green, who began his college career at Michigan, posted 82 tackles at Colorado this season.
After just one season with Colorado football, linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green will hit the transfer portal. He posted 82 tackles, 12 TFLs, two interceptions, and two sacks with Colorado this season. A former four-star recruit, Hill-Green started his career with the Michigan Wolverines, tallying 51 tackles from 2020 to 2022. In 2023, he transferred to the Charlotte 49ers, collecting 73 tackles and earning All-American honors within his conference.
Green-Hill transferred last offseason, becoming one of 43 incoming transfers for Colorado football. However, he will again depart, making his next school his fourth in as many years. Despite Colorado having an incoming transfer portal class north of 40 in each of their two years under head coach Deion Sanders, fans are frustrated with the loss of an elite second-level defender:
Ngl this is the first one where i say “wtf”

NIL? That is crazy. No one heard of him, before Colorado. If you not going to the draft, you would think he would stay another year to get more exposure, more work in, more work. He had more work to do. Going to another team, he may get lost in the sauce.
