On Thursday, the North Dakota State Bison fell four yards short of a walk-off 53-yard touchdown to beat Colorado football during opening week. North Dakota State entered Thursday’s game as a double-digit underdog as the FCS squad traveled south to Boulder, Colorado, to face the Buffaloes at a crowded Folsom Field. The Bison boarded the buses following a 60-minute shootout as near winners, proving they can compete near the top of college football despite playing in a lower subdivision.
Following the defeat, the official NDSU football Twitter account praised their team while thanking the fans and showering quarterback Cam Miller with love. However, Colorado athletics took a different approach, “poking fun” at NDSU following the win, much to the displeasure of college football fans.
Colorado Football Account Chirps NDSU
A week before they clashed with Colorado football, the NDSU football account harmlessly tweeted fun facts, similarities, and differences about Bison and buffaloes, the team’s two mascots. Following the win, Colorado Athletics official Twitter account reposted NDSU, saying:
We found another difference 🙋 0-1 Bison. 1-0 Buffaloes
North Dakota State, which had yet to play an FBS school since facing off against a below-average Arizona Wildcats team (finished the year 5-7) in 2022, narrowly lost to Colorado football on Thursday, 31-26. Colorado struggled mightily on defense, causing zero turnovers, allowing nearly 450 yards of offense, and generating only two sacks.
Colorado athletics chirping the Bison (on a harmless tweet from a week prior) has left many college football fans annoyed with the team’s social media account. Many college football fans let Colorado football know how they felt about a team trying to embarrass an FCS team despite barely winning:
