Colorado football remains one of the most watched programs in the country since hiring head coach Deion Sanders in 2023. After a one-win campaign, in which the Colorado Buffaloes failed to host a home crowd resembling a Power Five conference, the former Pac-12 squad added Sanders, former top recruit and two-way superstar Travis Hunter, and son of Coach Prime and quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Since then, Colorado has become much watch TV while continuing to find themselves playing on national platforms.
However, not everyone has responded positively to Colorado football’s overnight rise to stardom, specifically opposing teams and their fanbases. Nevertheless, Sanders and Co. believe the team thrives off the sea of boos in which opposing fans greet them with during road games. College football fans remain divided on the now Big 12 school following Sanders’ comments.
Fans Split After Colorado Football HC Deion Sanders Talks Villian Role
According to On3 and Colorado football bench boss Deion Sanders:
Deion Sanders on why Colorado plays complete games on the road: “We like to be booed and naysayed and hated. It turns us on. It’s kinda sexy, matter of fact.” (via @gucceCU)
Since the arrival of Coach Prime in Boulder, Colorado, home games have become a spectacle, featuring a sold-out crowd and cameos from some of the country’s greatest athletes and entertainment figures. However, road games are equally intense, with the main difference being the fans being anti-CU for 60-plus minutes. Meanwhile, the Buffaloes’ leadman proclaims that his team thrives off the boos, believing it helps them compete for the entirety of the contest.
Since his arrival, CU is 4-5 in home games while posting a 5-5 record on the win, including their lone ranked win against the TCU Horned Frogs. The college football world remains divided regarding Colorado and coach Sanders, evidenced by their reactions to the frontman’s comments on Tuesday:
