Colorado football will play in the 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl against conference foe BYU. Following a 4-8 season, their first under the guidance of head coach Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes went 9-3, finishing fourth in the Big 12 and posting their 15th nine-win campaign in the program’s 125-year history. Two years removed from a one-win season, Colorado earned All-American level production from their two biggest stars, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way phenom Travis Hunter.
Hunter, the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy Award, will head to New York City this weekend in hopes of becoming Colorado football’s second-ever winner. Meanwhile, Sanders will not join him; instead, it will be the trio of Boise State superstar rusher Ashton Jeanty, Oregon Ducks signal-caller Dillon Gabriel, and Miami Hurricanes gunslinger Cam Ward. On Wednesday, the elder Sanders, Coach Prime, posted on Twitter, taken aback by the comparison between Gabriel and his son’s numbers, much to fans’ outrage.
Fans Clown Deion Sanders For Pro-Shedeur Tweet
According to the official Twitter account of Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders, about a tweet comparing the statistics between his son and team quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Oregon Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel:
Lawd Jesus!
This season, across 12 games, Colorado football superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw for a conference-best 3,925 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also led the Big 12 in pass attempts, completions, and QB rating. Meanwhile, Gabriel was also a conference leader in the more competitive Big Ten. He led the league with 297 pass completions, a 73.2% completion percentage, 3,558 passing yards, and 28 passing touchdowns. He threw 50 fewer passes than Sanders while having a nearly identical rating. More importantly, Gabriel led Oregon to an undefeated regular season record, a Big Ten title, and a top seed in the College Football Playoff. Conversely, Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes went 9-3.
With Gabriel more than making up his statistical shortcomings with elite team accomplishments, fans questioned Deion Sanders’ push for his son to make an appearance at the Heisman Trophy ceremony over the Big Ten’s most prolific passer. Many of the same fans put Coach Prime in their crosshairs via the replies to his now-viral tweet:
One is undefeated and the other isn’t. Hope that helps

Level of competition isn’t even close. Dillion is a better QB

Now do the same thing for Travis Hunter against other top WRs and DBs… or do we only want to compare stats when it’s convenient???

Well when ur throwing bombs up 40 pts in games to pat stats, ur gonna have that

I’ll take DG, coach. He’s in the playoff and his team is undefeated. Great leader too.

Sanders has 50 more attempts and against lesser competition. They’re nearly identical statistically when you control for passing attempts. Only One is 13-0

Big 10 competition vs Big 12🙄. All I saw was the most hostile place you guys played this year was in Nebraska a bad team and y’all look looked like shit🤣. Now can you imagine what Colorado would have looked like going into places like Oregon,Ohio St,Penn st,etc… pic.twitter.com/lQs7AeSYcI

So fairly close except one had a heisman trophy wr to throw and was 9-3 the other is 12-0 with a ck defense title and ranked 1 in the nation

One's 11-0 coach! One's 9-3 in a much easier schedule

Cmon, Prime. You should know better than anyone an RB with 1200 yards and 15 tuddy’s reduces QB production yet Gabriel still almost outplayed your kid. Also, the Heisman committee is basically saying Hunter made him look good. I respect you for being a good dad tho👌🏻
