Colorado football is on the right track under head coach Deion Sanders. Winners of five of their last seven, Colorado has already surpassed their win total of the previous two seasons combined. The Buffaloes enter this weekend again the subject of a national television audience, hosting the Cincinnati Bearcats on ESPN. Sanders, alongside stars Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, has revolutionized college football in Boulder, Colorado. However, not everyone is keen on Sanders’ approach to football.
An atheist group known as The Freedom From Religion Foundation is taking aim at Sanders, calling for him to put a permanent halt on pregame prayers with his team. Nevertheless, many fans took the side of the Colorado football leadman, brushing aside the foundation’s ludicrous demands.
Fans Support Colorado Football HC Deion Sanders’ Right to Prayer
According to author Tom Fitton on his Twitter account:
Atheist group seeks to block Colorado coach Deion Sanders from holding team prayers.
Known as The Freedom From Religion Foundation, which advocates for atheists, agnostics, and nontheists, the collective demands that Colorado football star head coach Deion Sanders stop pregame prayer for his team. They have taken exception to the Colorado Buffaloes having a team pastor and require the program to “cease infusing the football program with Christianity.”
Alongside The First Liberty Institute, an advocate group for Christians, many are on the side of Sanders. Colorado is 5-2 on the season, and a win on Saturday against a tough Cincinnati team could push for the former Pac-12 squad to earn a spot in the AP Poll Top 25. With the news of the atheist group demanding Sanders to press pause on his pregame ritual of prayer, many of his fans came to his aid via social media:
It’s none of their business. Apparently atheists are threatened by people gathering in prayer. 🙏

He should counter sue and say it’s bc he’s Black they are not allowing him to practice his religion.

Unconstitutional to block them. Especially at a publically funded university.

They don't have to watch! He's not asking them to pray! Back off!

I'm not a big fan on Deion, but I hope he doesn't cave to this nonsense.

Deion Sanders is the new coach of the CU football team, and he is also a strong and outspoken Christian. The pagans and atheists in Colorado don't like that, but he is standing strong. https://t.co/hVkQAjtAAU
