Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Hunter could potentially be one of the top wide receivers taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hunter has also been playing cornerback for Colorado. At this point, many are wondering why after last night’s performance against the North Dakota State Bison, he is even playing cornerback at this point.
There is no doubt that Hunter is going to make more money in the NFL as a wide receiver compared to playing cornerback. He was a star player for the Buffaloes in Thursday night’s win over the North Dakota State Bison 31-26.
Colorado Buffaloes Wide Receiver Travis Hunter Has a Big Game Against the North Dakota State Bison
Travis Hunter was making tough catches all game long and he also game-breaking speed for Colorado. On the Buffaloes’ first drive of the game, he scored on a 41-yard touchdown reception from Sheduer Sanders. This was the first of several touchdowns he would score in the game.
Hunter also caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Sanders in the third quarter and a 3-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. This will not be the only game this season where Travis Hunter is going to go over 100 yards receiving and have multiple touchdown receptions.
Some fans think that even if Sheduer Sanders has a very good season for the Buffaloes, there is a chance that Travis Hunter could be in the running for the Heisman Trophy as well. What is stunning about Colorado is that Hunter was not even the leading wide receiver in this game for them.
Jimmy Horn Jr. had a 69-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. Horn caught seven passes for 198 yards receiving and one touchdown. He averaged 28.3 yards per catch. Travis Hunter finished with seven receptions for 132 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 18.9 yards per catch.
Fans React To His Performance
Not only were fans in awe with Sheduer Sanders on Thursday night, but they were also in awe with Travis Hunter. This is what some of them had to say:
This is no disrespect to Shedeur Sanders, who is amazing, but I’m here for this Travis Hunter Heisman campaign. Kind of miss the days when the award wasn’t automatically designated to the quarterback. A two-way player is exactly the kind of juice this award needs.

Travis Hunter might legitimately win the Heisman if he can stay healthy. He’s the best player in College Football.

Travis Hunter keeps showing that he can and he SHOULD play both WR and CB in the NFL FULL TIME.
Man had 7 catches for 132 yards and 3 TDS at WR AND played 43 snaps on defense making tackles and locking down his side of the field.

There is no way that Hunter will play both wide receiver and cornerback at the next level. Hunter is going to be drafted most likely as a wide receiver. If he keeps up this play every week, the star Buffaloes wide receiver can very well be a Top 5 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Luther Burden III from the Missouri Tigers is also the other top wide receiver prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. A team like the New England Patriots could be drafting in the Top 5 of the 2025 NFL Draft and they would need a future play maker for quarterback Drake Maye.
