The Colorado Buffaloes announced that they will be retiring Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter’s jerseys. This comes as no surprise: Travis Hunter won nine awards last season, including the Heisman, and Sanders won the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The Buffs will retire the numbers 2 & 12 at their spring game on April 19.
Travis Hunter’s Impact
Hunter is easily the best player in Colorado Buffaloes history. His Heisman season was unlike any season by any player ever. He played 709 offensive snaps and 713 defensive snaps. He won the Biletnikoff Award for the nation’s best receiver, recording 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nation’s best defender. Hunter added 4 interceptions and a forced fumble on defense.

Travis Hunter’s impact on Colorado will go down in history with his number 12 up in the rafter of Folsom Field. College football may never see a season like Hunter’s ever again.
Shedeur Sanders’ Impact
While many people throw shade at Sanders’ for being the coaches son, he was the best quarterback in Colorado Buffaloes history. In his two years at Colorado he threw for 7,364 yards and had 72 total touchdowns. He also finished eighth in Heisman voting.

Colorado hasn’t seen a quarterback with talent like Shedeur’s since Kordell Stewart. Sanders’ left his mark at Colorado and was one of the nation’s best passers during his time in Boulder.
How They Changed The Colorado Buffaloes
Even though thee Buffs didn’t win a national title with these two, they left Boulder better than they found it. With the help of Coach Prime these stars helped put Colorado back on the map. Colorado hasn’t been a relevant football school in over a decade until these two stepped foot on campus.
