We are approaching week two of the fresh college football season and there are many marquee matchups to watch. After going 4-1 in in my five locks last week, I have another five college football week two best bets!
#1 Alabama visits unranked Texas as a 20 point favorite on the road. #9 Baylor visits #21 BYU as a surprising three point underdog. Another big matchup is between #24 Tennessee and #17 Pitt, when they square off in the 2022 Johnny Majors Classic. Tennessee will look to avenge last year’s loss to Pitt when the Volunteers were beaten 24-41 in a high-scoring shootout.
So, after going 4-1 for our five best bets of week one, its time to follow that up with a 5-0 week! Here are my five best bets for week two of college football…
1. UNDER (66.5) #24 Tennessee @ #17 Pitt
#17 Pitt will host #24 Tennessee after coming away with an incredible win in the backyard brawl against WVU. Though Pitt scored 41 points in week one, the offense looked shaky for the whole first half. New QB Kedon Slovis didn’t seem THAT impressive. For example, he lacked a lot of pocket awareness which led to him being sacked five times throughout the game. Many of the sacks were avoidable had he gotten rid of the ball, and/or gotten out of the pocket…like this one

Slovis has to know to get rid of that ball if Pitt is going to have any success against other teams this year. On the other hand, Tennessee blew Ball St. out of the water in week one. The Volunteers put up 59 points and looked great in all three phases of the game. So, why the under in this one? The Panthers are going to struggle to move the ball, as the offense is still getting used to a new QB. Pitt’s defense will hold off the powerful Tennessee offense, largely because of the strong d-line. I see this as a 28-24 type of game. LOCK IN THE UNDER!
2. OVER (54) Appalachian St @ #6 Texas A&M
#6 Texas A&M will host Appalachian State in week two of the college football season. Appalachian State is coming off of an incredible shootout with North Carolina last week. App St lost 63-61 in a game where there were 62 points scored in the 4th quarter…62! Appalachian St scored 40 alone in the 4th quarter. I feel that App St will score enough against a tough Aggies defense to get the total over 55. The Aggies will want to get the offense going in this one as well. A&M put up 31 points in an ok effort against Sam Houston last week. Look for A&M QB Haynes King to be more comfortable in week two, as he will continue to learn week in and week out. LOCK IT IN…OVER (55).

3. OVER (52.5) #20 Kentucky @ #12 Florida
#12 Florida hosts #20 Kentucky in a SEC showdown this week. The Gators are coming off of a top 10 win last weekend when they defeated #7 Utah with a interception to seal the game. Heisman hype is already starting to surround Gators QB Anthony Richardson because of plays like this…
Still thinking about this Anthony Richardson play from last night 🤯

I fully expect Florida to put up 30 points on Kentucky at a minimum. HC Billy Napier knows what he’s doing with this squad, and they looked in sync against the Utes. Kentucky’s offense looked extremely good last week vs Miami of Ohio. They had over 300 passing yards and were 4/4 in scoring TDS in goal-to-go situations. Love the OVER (52.5) here. LOCK IT IN!
4. #10 USC (-9) @ Stanford
Stanford will host #10 USC in a PAC 12 matchup on Saturday night. Stanford is coming off of a win against Colgate, while USC is coming off a win against Rice. For the first time since 2008, USC’s offense put up 66 points against the Owls. Transfer WR Jordan Addison looked great in his debut, as he caught five passes which included two TDS. Personally, I don’t think Stanford is a contest for USC. Lincoln Riley is pushing all of the right buttons with this team. Transfer QB Caleb Williams was efficient in week one, and I see that continuing against a less talented Stanford team. GIVE THE POINTS…USC (-9)…LOCK IT IN.

5. #9 Baylor (+3) @ #21 BYU
Last, #9 Baylor is a surprising three point underdog on the road at #21 BYU. Last year, Baylor defeated BYU 38-24 in what was a pretty lopsided game. Though BYU is at home, I don’t see them winning this game. Baylor’s defense will be too much. Last year, the Bears gave up just 18 points/game which ranked 10th in the nation. Baylor has all four of their defensive linemen returning will be huge this season. Look for them to be the difference maker at BYU. Though the Bears lost some other defensive players to the NFL draft this past April, the returners are saying they haven’t lost their edge. Take Baylor with the points! LOCK IT IN!
