Brian Kelly used to be the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish until he left for the LSU Tigers three years ago. Marcus Freeman is in his third season as the head coach of the Fighting Irish. On Thursday, the Sugar Bowl was played between Notre Dame and the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Irish defeated the Bulldogs and the final score was 23-10. With the win, Notre Dame will advance to the college football semifinals against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl. The Fighting Irish have not won it all since 1977.
Brian Kelly Gets Roasted On Twitter After Notre Dame Fighting Irish Win Against the Georgia Bulldogs
Many people thought that Brian Kelly was going to be successful with the LSU Tigers and win with more talent down in the South. However, Kelly did not make it to the playoffs this season with LSU and Marcus Freeman is now in the Final Four with Notre Dame. It is really interesting how things work in life sometimes.
This is what some of the college football fans had to say about Kelly on Twitter after the Irish latest win against the Bulldogs:

Is it possible that Brian Kelly’s departure from Notre Dame is an example of addition by subtraction? #CFBPlayoffs #SugarBowl pic.twitter.com/pRLDpVBZYN

Don’t forget where this started.
When Brian Kelly walked out that door, the players went nuts when Marcus Freeman walked back through it.

Marcus Freeman took a job that Brian Kelly ran from and has elevated it above where he found it…Well done sir! Great leader with an outstanding culture @NDFootball

Notre Dame is so much more likable with Marcus Freeman as their leader than they were with Brian Kelly

Freeman has done a great job with the Irish program up to this point. However, LSU Tigers fans already want to run Brian Kelly out of town.
Potential Championship Matchups
If the Irish were to beat the Nittany Lions next Thursday in the Orange Bowl, Notre Dame would either face the Texas Longhorns or the Ohio State Buckeyes in the National Championship Game. The Fighting Irish are in the national spotlight this late in the season.
It is a huge win that Marcus Freeman is getting this recognition and a huge loss that Kelly isn’t. Winning will do that to other people and it will also help recruiting in the long run as well.
