It is never too early to talk about what could happen in college football during the 2025 season. It will be interesting to see if the Ohio State Buckeyes will be able to repeat as champions or not.

They will no doubt be one of the top teams in the country entering the 2025 season. There will be a lot of talent that leaves the college level for the NFL. However, there is no doubt that there will be players who will be ready to break out onto the scene for the 2025 college football season.
Andy Wasserman of On3 Lists His Top 10 Breakout Players For College Football Next Season

Andy Wasserman of on3 listed his Top 10 potential breakout players for the 2025 college football season. Some of the names that he had on there were incoming freshman Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin, Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Mike Matthews, Oregon Ducks running back Makhi Hughes, and Penn State Nittany Lions tight end Luke Reynolds.
Wasserman listed some other players as well. There is also a good chance that he missed some names for the 2025 college football season who are on the verge of breaking out. One team that is good at replacing talent year after year is the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The biggest one I’m seeing missing is Jaden Greathouse. Look no further than what he did in the CFP title game. You could argue he already kinda broke out or whatever, but 1,000-yard plus season incoming as long as they figure out what to do with the OL.

Makhi Hughes is coming off back-to-back 1400-yard seasons so I’m excited to see him breakout even more than that..

How can a true freshman breakout?

Hasn’t Makhi Hughes already rushed for over 2000 career yards? It seems like the breakout happened awhile ago

The one name that stands out who did not make this list is Ohio State Buckeyes running back James Peoples. Peoples was the third running back on the Buckeyes depth chart last season. He was behind Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson. They are both leaving for the NFL and Peoples can very well break out next year.
They both rushed for over 1,000 yards last season. However, Peoples rushed for 197 yards on 49 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 4.0 yards per carry. It will be interesting to see what he does for the Buckeyes next season in college football and also some of the other players that Wasserman mentioned or missed on his list as well.
