There has been some drama around the North Carolina Tar Heels and Mack Brown this season. At one point this season, Brown thought about stepping down but he refused to step down. Brown just over the last couple of weeks mentioned that he was going to possibly return for next season and beyond.

Well, a lot can change over a short period. It is going to be intriguing to see what happens with the Tar Heels football program moving forward.
North Carolina Tar Heels Fire Mack Brown As Head Coach

On Tuesday, it was reported by CBS Sports that Mack Brown has been fired by the Tar Heels. This is a shocking decision by the program and they want to move in a different direction. The statement from the school reads:
“This season will be Mack Brown’s last as the University of North Carolina’s head football coach. Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham on Monday informed Brown, who coached UNC from 1988-97 and then returned to Chapel Hill in Nov., 2018, that he will not return as head coach. Brown will coach the team Saturday in its season finale against NC State at Kenan Stadium; a decision has not been reached on whether Brown will coach in a Bowl game.”
This was an interesting business decision for the North Carolina Tar Heels. This will probably be the last time that Brown is coaching college football.

Brown coached for the Tar Heels, the Tulane Green Wave, and the Texas Longhorns in college football. He had a great coaching career. The college football fans are wishing him well after this season ends.
