A major college program is begging for more money after seeing players leave in the transfer portal after missing out on the College Football Playoff.
The No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide are set to play the Michigan Wolverines in the RellaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31. Per Bama Hammer, the Crimson Tide have had 14 players enter the transfer portal after the regular season.
College football is changing for Alabama
Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne posted a strong message on X to the program’s fanbase about how they needed to “fight back” by adding more money to their NIL fund to compete with other top college programs.
“Although we have been competitive from an NIL standpoint, our competition has us in their sights and are actively trying to surge ahead with NIL,” Byrne wrote. You have heard examples of other teams using promises of million-dollar paydays to lure away our players or convince them not to come to Alabama. It is time for the Bama Nation to fight back. ”
Alabama football needs more money
Byrne urged the fanbase to sign up for a subscription to Yea Alabama to help fund the program. The subscription has tiers from $5 monthly for students up to $250 per month for their top package. The subscription offers Alabama-exclusive content and access.
“A subscription to @yea_ala isn’t about the now; it’s about the future,” Byrne wrote. “It’s about roster retention for future seasons – keeping our legends in Crimson. It’s about attracting and developing the best recruits in the country to represent the script A. You being a part of the team has never been more important. “

The Crimson Tide are getting desperate in the post-Nick Saban era. Alabama went 9-3 in Kalen DeBoer’s first season with the program. They missed out on the SEC championship and CFP by losing 24-3 to Oklahoma in November.
Now they need more money to keep borderline-championship-level talent in Tuscaloosa for DeBoer since Saban isn’t there to offer plays a pipeline to the NFL.
