BREAKING: Los Angeles Chargers Make Decision On Colin Kaepernick And QBs Coaching Job For 2024 Season

The Los Angeles Chargers announced who would become their next quarterbacks coach under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. After Harbaugh was hired in January, there was much speculation that the Chargers could look to hire former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Colin Kaepernick was linked to Jim Harbaugh’s new staff

As discussed previously on GH, NBC Sports’ Mike Florio thought Harbaugh would have the sway to hire Kaepernick onto his staff, likely as the quarterback’s coach, for the 2024 season:

Florio thinks Harbaugh has the political capital to hire Kaepernick to his new staff with the Chargers “in an effort to right a seven-year wrong” of Kaepernick being ousted from the league.

Hiring Kaepernick would be a profoundly polarizing decision for Harbaugh and the Chargers. Many fans are passionate about never wanting to see Kaepernick in the NFL again. However, many other fans appreciate what Kaepernick protested and risked.

Harbaugh was reportedly interested in hiring Kaepernick as his quarterbacks coach when the Minnesota Vikings were interested in hiring Harbaugh a few seasons prior.

Kaepernick will not have the quarterback’s job on Harbaugh’s coaching staff for 2024.

The Los Angeles Chargers hired Shane Day as their QBs coach

According to Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network, the Chargers hired Shane Day as their quarterbacks coach Thursday. He held the same title in Los Angeles for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

The #Chargers are bringing back Shane Day as QBs coach on Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff, sources say. Day was with the #Texans this season after serving as pass game coordinator and QB coach for Justin Herbert in 2021-22. Herbert’s a big fan. pic.twitter.com/hXb6WVzE4r

No Chargers coaching job for Kaepernick this season

Day’s hire should close the book on the Kaepernick reunion with Harbaugh this offseason. The Chargers hired Marcus Brady as their passing game coordinator on Thursday, so there isn’t really a spot open for Kaepernick’s expertise.

    Maybe next offseason?

Agree! Colin using the NFL platform to take political stance is wrong and he deserved to be ousted from league. People watch football to be entertained away from politics.

Kaepernick turned his back on his own adoptive parents, who raised him and nurtured him. His Muslim girlfriend convinced him they were all racists. His public actions & statements were very offensive to most Americans, and we let that be known. There is nothing to indicate that he has any qualifications to coach. And even if he did, almost no team in the BFL would hire him. He has made himself box office poison. Maybe he should look for job opportunities overseas. Sometimes lessons need to be learned the hard way. The parents who raised you are somehow racists? Yeah, sorry, but I wouldn’t want you for an employee. It’s obvious you’re not loyal, or even grateful.

Its not okay for you to voice your opinion about Kap and accuse his “Muslim” Girlfriend for his issues, so proudly and openly to the world with this derogatory response that’s filled with false narratives u created for the world to see.

I think Colin did nothing wrong. He took a stand for something he believes in. If we are forced to stand for the anthem and not believe in it then you are procrastinated about it. That’s not what freedom is. That’s called a dictatorship. This is what Stalin wanted and Hitler and in America is excepted as the norm. I think Colin is a good man that has balls of steel to what he did.

“Right a seven year wrong”? What horse crap! I’m absolutely not a right-winger, but no way in hell should this person be invited back into the league. His initiative was something we needed as a nation, BUT expressed in the worst way possible. There are still a few things in our country that should be held sacred…our flag and our anthem represent the blood and sacrifice FOR our all of our freedoms, including his right to speak freely. You just don’t cross that line. His platform could have been used for that good thing in so many different ways.

What an “interesting” comment. First off CK walked away from 13 million dollars because he wouldn’t accept being a non-start QB. He called the NFL “slave traders” (even made a video), he threw his mother and father under the bus after they gave him everything and all his opportunities
          He is the hater.

Kapernick called the NFL slave traders after turning down offer foe $13 million. Then he puts on a QB display in front of media to try to sell himself to any team that would have him but no one wants him since he thinks he’s to good to be a secondary QB.
In short and using his own description of the NFL, he couldn’t sell himself back into slavery.

I have no issues with paper kapernick having an issue worth fighting for and I agree (in principle) of fighting for like his cause which I think was noble. The part I disliked and turned my opinion was how he went about it. On the question was kapernick talented 🤔 I would rate him in the top 99 percentile of world population unfortunately for him I still think he was bottom tier for starting QBs and his talents would have been to be a backup qb where he would have had alot of revelant experience that transfers to QB coaching. But at the end of the day you will have to take into consideration will he be able to work with the qb or will he not do his job properly because he thinks he is still more talented than the qb he is helping to guide. His personal views on political matters don’t sway my opinion of him and I get tired of articles continuing to push that narrative and for those two reasons above I agree with what Chargers decided even if it was for different reasons. Colin or the media needs to show how Colin has humbled himself to NFL fans if he has any desire to enter the NFL and not have the teams fans boycott the team.

I think it was last year or the year before and I don’t remember the team, but Kaepernick had a personal meeting and tryout for a quarterback position. I remember that it was scheduled to be at the practice facility. Correct me if I’m wrong but he didn’t show up for the interview because he “expected” them to come to a field where he was at even though it was scheduled at the team facility.

Colin was never that good. His talents were figured out by second year. Defenses evolved and he never did. A one trick pony. Kind of like his protests…this was his second trick cause his field abilities were done.

He did so many stunts for upping his profile. Very selfish and never a team player.

If his antics would change, teams might take a chance on him. He needs to prove he is a team player for a while first.

Harbaugh is leaving a scandal in Michigan. He is not going to take a chance on Colin. He needs to up his reputation with some scandalousless years. Colin is too risky.

There wasn’t anything at all wrong with what he did. Zero nada nothing and more should have joined him and maybe they could have saved a few more lives in the real world.

Screw Kaepernick, that would not be righting a wrong, that would be trying to make a wrong right !
If he wanted to protest then he should have done it on his own time not where he was employed to do a job !

Wow! I’ve listened to alot of these comments. And, I’ll tell ya, they sound so…so. You know Kaepernick did what I guess what he thought was right? To some yes to some no. Me personally, and I’ll say.this line again, me personally, he should have picked another platform. I don’t agree with him. My dad fought for this country as well as my father in law who fought two wars. God rest both there souls. I remember when football was more about football. I remember watching it with my dad and brothers growing up. Now it’s become a circus. More politics then the actual game. There’s nothing wrong with having your opinion, as long as it’s just that. Yes your right freedom of speech. But, you have to remember there are people who aren’t going to always agree with you. And that’s ok. I’m not a defenseless black American. I’m not a slave. I’m free. The choices I make in my life or this life, are made by me. If I fail, then that’s on me. No one else. So, Kaepernick, does not speak for me. And I really don’t know how he can speak about slavery considering he got paid millions to throw a ball up and down a field? Now, how should he keep up his fight? By not coming back to the very institution that he claims is racist and expect to be hired. If they’re not hiring him back, it’s not because he’s black, it’s because now he’s a liability. ✌ & ❤️.
